DREAMING ABOUT YOUR OWN DISTILLERY?

I am very satisfied with both DES stills we own, and the product quality itself is good. The equipment looks impressive when you first encounter it, but it is quite easy to handle once you get used to it. These are devices that bring a smile to your face. We chose DES because of their world-renowned experience in making copper stills, but also because of the excellent price-quality ratio. We bought a 500-liter Premium still with an Aroma Max column for whiskey, rum, and large batches of gin. Additionally, we got a Performance Hobby 100L for experiments, very small batches (gin with herbs from our garden), and distillates with very strong flavors like absinthe or gentian bitter liqueur. So far I have mainly produced herbal distillates: gin, absinthe, fruit vodka, gentian bitter liqueur, but also non-alcoholic gins. We plan to start whiskey production during the summer. Aroma Max still results: from 500L at 40% ABV, I get more or less 5L of heads above 90% ABV, 220L of hearts at 75% ABV, and 60L of tails at 40% ABV. The distillation process takes 8 hours. The yield is about 97%, and the ratios are approximately the same for the Hobby 100L.

In everyday use, the still is easy to use and clean, with the CIP system. This allows the distillates to be of high quality. Still delivery is fast, even with a 3-month delay. The price of the still is affordable compared to other European manufacturers. We did gin distillation at full capacity of 500 liters. The initial ABV was 30%, while the final ABV was 72 to 75%. Distillation took between six and six and a half hours.

We are really satisfied, excellent still, easy to use, with good results. We distill gin with local herbs from Britain, we plan to start beer distillation, maybe start whiskey distillation during the summer. We put 72L at 80% ABV for gin, 59/60L, and 89/90 ABV. For beer, 120L at 5% ABV, 14L at 40% ABV.

We are delighted with our still that we bought from DES. We decided to work with DES because the potential collaboration seemed exciting. We also wanted something different, which no one from the Nordic market could offer us at the time. We mainly use a base with 96% ABV in our still, which is then diluted to 30% before re-distillation. It takes us about 8 hours to process a batch of 300L, but we work very slowly and carefully and get a result of about 90% ABV.

I am really satisfied with the still we use. There were some difficulties that we solved the right way. We produce jenever, gin, whiskey distilled beer, rum, and fruit brandy. Usually, when making whiskey, we do 4 runs with 500 liters of fermented liquid at about 10% ABV. After 4 runs, I have about 30% raw distillate. In the end, I usually get 220 liters at 67% ABV. Excellent quantity for barrel aging.

Yes, we are really satisfied with your still. We decided to buy a DES still after some research and conversations with people from other distilleries. We distill rum, gin, and vodka, mainly from base distillate to final ABV in the range of 62-76% ABV. Distillation time is about 5 hours.

When I first saw the DES still, I reacted like many other people - I thought it was a spaceship, complex to use. However, one conversation with the sales manager encouraged me, and a lot of things became clearer to me. I reviewed all DES Premium models and chose this one with three columns. At that moment, I knew it was perfect for me. It's a still with an Aroma Max column, a bubble plate column, and a column with structural packing. All three columns allow serious experimentation, and during distillation, it's possible to produce multiple types and recipes of alcoholic beverages. The Aroma Max column, the most important for us, preserves the best and strongest aroma from fruit raw materials without losses.

The quality of gin is very important to us, and with our DES still, we get that quality. The taste, smell, and quality of gin are the same after each distillation, which is very important for us. We decided on DES equipment after seeing the stills and being convinced of their quality. Additionally, short production time and good price contributed to our decision to buy. We are engaged in gin production. Depending on the recipe, we pour 80-100 liters of fermented liquid into the 120-liter still. The starting percentage is between 55 and 75%, while the final percentage is about 82 to 86%. Distillation takes 6 to 8 hours.
